2023’s Theme

This year’s theme is Welcome to Tinsel City, the Las Vegas of the North Pole, where Santa comes to sleigh and the architects come to play. Taking a page out of Denise Scott Brown & Robert Venturi’s Learning from Las Vegas we invite you to explore all things extravagant with your gingerbread creations.

Gingerbread Build for the City is a Toronto-wide gingerbread house competition for Architecture Firms in support of the Red Door Family Shelter. Together, we have raised over $6000 to help families in need. The Red Door Family Shelter has been providing emergency shelter and support for women and children affected by domestic abuse, families experiencing a housing crisis, and refugee claimants with nowhere else to turn. If you would like to donate to the cause, please follow the link below.

With the generous donation of Give & Go and many of our participating firms, all proceeds go to the Red Door Family Shelter, which since 1982 has been providing safe and supportive shelter to hundreds of families each year. They also offer counselling, life skills training, legal assistance, and ongoing support to help establish a stable life beyond the shelter.
